Full warranty terms will be provided with your project documentation.
Yes. Holland Custom Aquariums works with clients throughout British Columbia.
For projects outside our immediate service area, travel, transportation, accommodation, additional labour, and other project-related expenses will be discussed and agreed upon before work begins.
Because every project is different, we encourage you to submit your project details through our inquiry form. We can then determine what will be required and whether the project is a good fit for our team.
We specialize in custom aquariums, so there isn't a single maximum size. The practical limitations depend on the aquarium dimensions, access to the property, available workspace, structural requirements, glass weight, and the number of people required to safely complete the installation.
Larger aquariums may be constructed on-site when transporting a completed aquarium into the space isn't practical.
An on-site build may be recommended for exceptionally large aquariums or installations where doorways, hallways, stairs, elevators, or other access limitations make it difficult or impossible to bring the completed aquarium into its final location.
For example, an aquarium measuring approximately 84" L × 30" W × 30" H requires a working area of roughly 14' × 10' for safe on-site construction.
Every project is assessed individually before we determine the best construction and installation approach.
Large on-site builds require some additional planning before construction begins.
The work area must be heated, clean, and adequately ventilated. Glass must also be brought into the space and allowed to acclimate to the environment for approximately 24 hours before assembly.
The installation location must be capable of safely supporting the finished aquarium. For large installations, we may require a qualified structural engineer to assess and approve the location before construction begins.
Adequate working space and labour must also be available to safely handle and position the glass.
Not every aquarium requires an engineer. However, larger custom aquariums can carry a substantial amount of weight once filled with water, rock, substrate, cabinetry, and equipment.
For larger installations, particularly built-in systems or aquariums being installed on upper floors, we may require structural approval before proceeding. This helps ensure the proposed location can safely support the completed system.
Yes. This is one of the reasons we offer on-site aquarium construction.
If the finished aquarium cannot safely be transported through the available access points, we can assess whether constructing the aquarium directly in its final location is appropriate.
We look at the complete project rather than just the aquarium dimensions. This includes the proposed size, location, floor structure, access to the property, available construction space, cabinetry, filtration requirements, plumbing, electrical requirements, and long-term serviceability.
For more complex projects, a site visit may be required before the final design and quote can be completed.
Yes. Custom aquariums often need to integrate with cabinetry, millwork, walls, electrical systems, plumbing, and the surrounding architecture.
For built-in and larger installations, we can coordinate with the professionals involved in your project to help ensure the aquarium and its supporting systems are properly considered during the planning and construction process.
Possibly, and those are often the projects we most enjoy discussing.
Our custom aquarium service isn't limited to standard sizes or configurations. If you have a particular space, architectural feature, or aquarium concept in mind, send us your ideas, approximate dimensions, photos, plans, or inspiration through our Project Inquiry Form.
We'll review the information and discuss what is realistically possible for your space.
